The movie begins on a freeway in Los Angeles, where it all began. One day in a traffic jam, an arrogant honk of a horn introduces Sebastian and Mia, who are trying to find direction in their lives. They are both focused on their dreams, which are close to impossible. Sebastian is trying to get people to care about traditional jazz music in the 21st century, while Mia just wants to try her luck at a non-stop casting call. But neither of them expects that they will make the leap they expect to make alone. The only leap they can make is towards each other, into their artistic dreams. This combination creates an inherently cinematic world that takes us on an awe-inspiring journey through light, color, sound, music and words to the happiness we try to capture and the heartbreak of passions we can never overcome. A cinematic legend, City of Lovers is director Chazelle's real yet magical universe that enters the most intimate part of the human being, telling the story of intimate relationships, where personal dreams and decisions intersect with fate.
