Synopsis:

Paul Andrew Williams' dark and unsettling drama Dragonfly, which combines social realism with psychological suspense, is about the unlikely friendship between two women on the margins of society: Elsie, an elderly and lonely woman, and her economically and emotionally exhausted neighbor Colleen. Colleen, who lives with her dog, whom she loves like her own child, realizes that Elsie, who lost her husband years ago and is neglected by her son, is dissatisfied with her caregivers and offers her a helping hand. What starts with small gestures like buying milk turns into Colleen becoming the only real support in Elsie's life. This friendship, which progresses through prejudices and mistrust, is disrupted by the arrival of Elsie's son and then turns into a tragedy. Oscar nominees Andrea Riseborough and Brenda Blethyn's stunning performances give the film a depth that is both human and terrifying. The film premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York, where both won the Best Performance Award.

Paul Andrew Williams' dark and unsettling drama, Dragonfly, blends social realism with psychological suspense and follows the unlikely friendship of two women on the fringes of society: Elsie, an elderly and lonely woman, and her financially and emotionally drained neighbor, Colleen. Colleen who lives with her beloved dog, realizes Elsie's dissatisfaction with her caregivers and reaches out to her. She has lost her husband years ago and her son neglects her. What begins as small gestures like buying milk, over time, transforms into Colleen becoming Elsie's sole source of support. This friendship, steeped in prejudice and mistrust, is shattered by the arrival of Elsie's son, and ultimately descends into tragedy. Dragonfly, which questions what is justice and what is revenge, is imbued with a depth that is both human and terrifying, thanks to the striking performances of Oscar-nominated actors Andrea Riseborough and Brenda Blethyn. They both earned Best Performance Awards at New York's Tribeca Film Festival where the film premiered.
