Arkie, a 12-year-old adopted girl blind in one eye and with a tentacle-like arm, lives on an isolated peninsula with her overprotective father Blister, a giant octopus. But when an explosion echoes through the trees and Blister disappears, Arkie enters the forest and embarks on an epic journey to the City of Light, where her father is being held captive. Arkie encounters a group of allies and enemies who promise to help him on his quest. Along the way, Arkie must confront the dark truth about her origins and realize that her true strength lies in her flawed but unique self.
