France, 18th century. The reputation of a noble family depends above all on the quality of its table. On the eve of the French Revolution, gastronomy is still the privilege of aristocrats. The talented chef Manceron loses his job because he prepares a dish unwanted by the Duke of Chamfort. When he returns to his hometown, an encounter with the mysterious Louise puts him back on his feet. Desperate for revenge against the Duke, the two decide to set up France's first restaurant together.
